The Story
I honestly don’t know how to start this. It all happened 3 years ago, the very first time I went to her house.
My mother dropped me off at her house, told me to be good, yadda yadda. K met me at the door, and showed me to her room where we hung out for the next few hours. Disney items lined the walls, shelves, and floor, almost everywhere. Even the TV was a “The Little Mermaid” TV. K told me her mother is obsessed with Disney, and won’t allow her to throw any of it away.
That was when she showed me this bizarre little room.
It looked almost like a wine cellar, except it wasn’t in a pantry. It was in her closet. K’s bedroom is a second floor room. If you were to knock down the wall farthest into the room you would fall straight down to the first floor, there’s no room behind it.
This wine cellar type thing had a door about two feet high, a foot and a half wide, just enough for a person to crawl through. The room inside had a sloped ceiling, but even for a short 4’9” person like myself it was still too short to stand fully upright in. The room’s dimensions were about 4’x4’x3’, just big enough to hold the 4 of us, me, K, her brother Ry, and sister Kris. The first thing I noticed when I saw this door, is the writing “Worship Zone” scrawled in pencil above the little doorframe. The messy handwriting didn’t match anybody’s handwriting in the house, not that it mattered, K said it was there when she moved in.
We decided to name this bizarre little room “The Secret Room” even though it wasn’t much of a secret. But we thought it was a cool hideout, so we made it our secret room.
The walls inside The Secret Room where blue, but it looked as if there were clouds painted on the ceiling, and it looked like there was a window painted on the front wall. K told me that when she moved in, there was a piece of paper over the “window” that said “Rest in Peace” with 10 names written on it that were crossed off.
There was also a distinct rise in temperature in this room. It was 76 degrees in all the other rooms, yet in The Secret Room it felt like it was almost 90 degrees. I was also aware of this foul smell, almost like rotten eggs, but we just pointed a fan through the door, and sprayed some air freshener and forgot about it.
Later that day, we decided to officially make The Secret Room our hideout. Ry had a broken desk in his room, the legs were broken off so it made a perfect bench. We put that in there against the right wall, put an old child’s car seat far against the front and left wall, and put a Spongebob foldup chair next to it. We also put Spongebob and Patrick plushies on the bench/desk to sit on. The last thing we added was a blanket on the floor to act as a rug. When we finally settled in, Ry brought a lantern flashlight in so we had light. Even with the door open for the fan, it was still dark and hot. After hanging out more in the room, we became aware of the smell of rotten eggs again. We ended up spraying more air freshener into the room, and brought a car air freshener in and hung it on a wall with a thumbtack.
Being immature children who were bored out of their minds, we decided to play hide and seek. I hid in The Secret Room, because my theory at the time was that “it’s so obvious, they won’t think to look here!”
I thought Ry was in there with me, because I heard incredibly loud breathing. I got irritated, and told Ry to “shut up! They’ll hear you and find us!” Which resulted in my hair getting pulled, and the Patrick plush somehow found my face.
I turned on the lantern, ready to yell at Ry… I was alone in the room. And I was aware that the rotten egg smell was incredibly strong and it was very, very hot in there. I began to have a panic attack for no reason. I felt like my lungs just couldn’t get enough air, I saw black dots on the edge of my vision, I was having a serious panic attack. I didn’t care if I was playing hide and seek. I kicked the door open and got out of The Secret Room as fast as I could. I needed air, and I couldn’t get that in The Secret Room.
I eventually calmed down. I couldn’t figure out why I had the panic attack, because even though I was alone in The Secret Room and that stuff happened, it wasn’t what triggered my panic attack. I just thought it was the ghost of a little kid trying to play. I had no clue what a demon was at the time.
So after I calmed down, I told K, Ry, and Kris what happened. They weren’t scared either, and thought it was cool.
We all went back into the Secret Room, just talking and hanging out. We had the light off because light was filtering in through the cracks around the doorframe. I sat in the car seat against the front, left wall. I felt my hair get pulled again, and felt icy cold fingers touch the skin above my hip. I immediately smacked K because I thought she was messing with me. She turned on the lantern, and asked me what was wrong. I told her what happened, and she looked at me like I was crazy.
“I didn’t touch you, Amanda.” Then she poked me, and went back to her game she was playing on her DS after turning the light off again.
I was aware that the hairs on the back of my neck were standing straight up, and my skin was covered in goosebumps. Again, it was very, very hot in the room and there was the ever present smell of rotten eggs.
I brushed it off, and started playing my DSi. It was extremely quiet in The Secret Room. Everyone had the volume on their games turned off. It was silent, until there was a bang against the wall I was leaning against, and we all heard this growl that sounded like it came from everywhere at once. We weren’t very freaked out, we just thought it was the kid trying to play with us. None of us knew what a demon was.
We all left the room, and decided to go in two at a time, for 5 minutes. The two who were in the room would record using my DSi sound recorder. Ry and Kris went in first. Ry and K had their own DS, so they were on DS chat while Kris recorded with my DSi.
5 minutes later, they came out of The Secret Room, and showed me what they recorded. They got scratching on the walls, banging on the walls, and this weird chirping noise. I still have the scratching and bang on my DSi.
When K and I went in, we immediately started getting activity. I got my hair pulled again, I felt like my arms were being grabbed, and It sounded like someone was breathing in my ear. K was sitting in front of me.
When our 5 minutes were up, we had nothing worth saving on the recording. There were no sounds, just physical contact. After examining my arms in the light, I noticed three scratch marks going down my arms.
By that time, it was 10 at night, so we were exhausted and decided to go to bed.
I found that I couldn’t sleep. By the time I finally fell asleep, it was 2 AM, and even then it was a very uneasy sleep. I had a nightmare, all I remember from it was that I woke up terrified and it felt like someone was trying to smother me. I couldn’t even remember the dream.
I asked my mother to pick me up as soon as everyone else was up, which was about 10 AM. My mother picked me up at 12.
I was so freaked out by what happened when I woke up, I just felt like I couldn’t stay there any longer.
When I looked up everything that happened, it was then that I knew it wasn’t a child. It was a demon.
Even though this happened 3 years ago, I remember it as if it happened yesterday. I don’t think I will ever forget the first time I went to K’s house.
I know you probably won't believe me but this honestly happened RIGHT after I read this o3o
I wouldn't go back in there for a while T-T
I'm still afraid to go in my parent's room after I was pushed back T-T
... my house used to run on natural gas, so i KNOW what natural gas smells like. It wasn't natural gas. It pisses me off when people tell me that.
She told me that the previous owners of her house were obsessed with death, and the neighbors rarely ever saw them come out of the house for anything.
Her mom found a statuette of Satan in one of the rooms once too. So I was putting everything together, and what did I get?
Satanists.
Although I am coming at that logically, it still is really weird that you couldn't breathe at all when you were alone in there for so shortly. And the tugging and scratches? That wouldn't have been possible if you were in there alone. Thats really eerie and creepy. *huggles* Gwah. And the satanist things. OTL I don't know if I believe in demons or angels or whatever, but I think that there are at least some unexplainable and real weird things out there.
*typed a lot* TOO MUCH. e_e
Imma note you another story of an encounter with a spirit. It happened fairly recently. I forgot about it because I didn't want my family to know about it. e_e;;
Mold doesn't smell like that either. We had a problem with mold in our bathroom once OTL it smelled pretty bad, but not like rotten eggs.
And how could I have forgotten about the fan? XD Yikes Asia. Man, then it really was something strange. *patpatsyoungAmanda* ;_; GOOD LUCK KID. *shot*
So then all my trying theories were thrown away, so it was weird. Hey did you shut the door when playing hide and seek though? Or like left it cracked open? Just curious. *3*
